8 CANCER STUDIES ON BLACK SEED

Many studies have been conducted on the anti-tumour effects of Nigella Sativa.  In 1997,  at the Cancer Research Laboratory in South Carolina, USA, researchers found that Nigella Sativa oil increased the growth rate of bone marrow cells by a staggering 250% and inhibited tumor growth by 50%.

1. Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in America, with a four percent survival rate using conventional treatments.  Researchers found that Nigella sativa destroyed 80 percent of pancreatic cancer cells.

2. Colon Cancer

In 2010, research on the use of Nigella Sativa for treatment of colon cancer in rats was conducted in Tanta, Egypt.  Researchers found Nigella sativa reduced the size of the tumors and also reduced the tumors in the lungs and alimentary canals. 

3. Breast Cancer

In 2003, breast cancer patients were treated by researchers at Jackson State University in the United States using Nigella Sativa.  Researchers concluded that “N. Sativa alone, or in combination with oxidative stress were found to be effective in vitro in inactivating MCF-7 breast cancer cells.”

4. Cervical Cancer

A 2013 study sought to investigate the potential anti-cancer effects of Nigella Sativa exract.  Researchers found that “Nigella Sativa showed an 88.3% inhibition of proliferation of SiHa human cervical cancer cells”.

5. Brain Cancer

A thymoquinone extract from Nigella Sativa was found to selectively target aggressive glioblastoma brain cancer cells.

6. Leukemia

In this study, a thymoquinone extract from Nigella Sativa was found to induce mitochondria-mediated apoptosis in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in vitro. 

7. Oral Cancer

Researchers at China Medical University in Taiwan found that thymoquinone extract induced apoptosis in oral cancer cells. 

8. Liver Cancer

In this study, researchers found that when they used thymoquinone extract from Nigella Sativa on cancer rats, the growth and spread of cancer cells was effective suppressed.
